FastStone Capture is an application that captures and records your computer screen, allowing you to edit some aspects of the snapshot.
The interface is small-dimensioned, similar to a toolbar. You can take a screenshot of an active window, an object, a rectangular region, a freehand region, a scrolling window, a fixed region, or of the full screen. Even more, the application is capable of recording your screen. The tool saves images in BMP, GIF, JPEG, PCX, PNG, TGA, TIFF or PDF formats, and video files in Windows media video format.

The program has a smart function which allows you to modify some details of an image. You get the ability to draw on a screenshot, enter captions or add effects, such as sepia, grayscale, negative, sketch, oil painting, and others. If you want to edit your image even more, you can modify its edges, add watermarks, or blur it. There is another feature that lets you adjust the colors of the picture, by modifying the brightness, the contrast, the gamma, the saturation, or the hue level. The 'Screen Recorder' feature is of great help; this way you can monitor your computer activity while you're away.

To sum up, this app provides images and videos taken from your computer screen. With its toolbar-like form, the program stays on top of any other application for the close reach; when it is no longer required for current use, it just hides in the system tray.
